About the Role

Join JPMorgan’s EMEA corporate tax team and lead the local management of tax in Luxembourg. In this role you will bring VAT expertise to bear on complex, regulated FS businesses at the heart of JPMorgan’s European franchise to help shape practical solutions and drive effective management of obligations and risk . You will have the opportunity to influence local and regional tax strategy, advise senior stakeholders and collaborate with specialists across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. As an Executive Director in Corporate Tax, you will be the lead for all tax matters in Luxembourg, with primary responsibility for the Bank’s VAT and corporate income tax obligations. You will manage relationships with tax authorities and provide clear briefings to local management. Working closely with tax specialists in London and colleagues across the region, you will help us manage tax risk, meet our obligations and support sound business decisions. This role is based in Luxembourg and involves regular collaboration with colleagues in London and across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead Corporate Tax activities and serve as the primary tax contact for the Luxembourg businesses and other stakeholders
• Oversee VAT and corporate income tax matters affecting Luxembourg entities and provide broader oversight in other countries in the region and broader projects.
• Manage the relationship with Luxembourg tax authorities including enquiries, audits, rulings, correspondence and other matters.
• Brief local management on material tax developments, risks, obligations and recommended actions.
• Coordinate with tax subject matter experts in London to deliver consistent and well-governed tax advice.
• Monitor Luxembourg and European Union tax developments and input into policy advocacy through industry bodies.
• Identify, assess and communicate tax risks, and recommend appropriate controls and mitigation measures.
• Partner with business teams and support functions including Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance and HR on tax-related matters.
• Manage external tax advisers where required, including the review and implementation of their advice.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

• Professional qualification in law, accountancy or taxation, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
• Substantial experience of VAT and corporate income tax within a financial services organisation, professional services firm, multinational business or tax authority.
• Technical knowledge of Luxembourg and EU VAT and Luxembourg corporate income tax.
• Experience in managing relationships with tax authorities, including audits, enquiries, rulings or other formal engagements.
• Experience in advising senior stakeholders and explaining complex tax matters clearly to non-specialist audiences.
• Experience in working across multiple jurisdictions and coordinating with regional or global tax teams.
• Fluency in English and native-level fluency in either French or German.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain accurate, well-documented work.
• Ability to identify and communicate tax risks and support effective governance and control frameworks.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across Luxembourg, London and the wider region.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

• Experience in banking, investment management, markets or another regulated financial services environment.
• Experience leading VAT and corporate income tax governance, controls and VAT initiatives.
• Knowledge of tax considerations affecting regulated financial institutions and cross-border services.
• Experience using tax technology, data and reporting solutions to improve processes and controls.
• Membership of a recognised legal, accounting or tax professional body.
• Experience influencing stakeholders in a complex, international and matrixed organisation.
