Position Definition:
Provides accounting and financial support to ensure effective internal controls and compliance with GAAP, federal grant requirements, and organizational policies. Prepares and records monthly journal entries and assists with the preparation, analysis, and reporting of monthly and year-end financial statements.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain the fixed asset system and record monthly depreciation
- Manage and follow up on outstanding checks
- Process complex cost transfers and miscellaneous GL entries, including monthly AMEX entries
- Manage subject payments, including petty cash, ClinCard and Tango Card
- Ensure accurate vendor setup and maintain 1099 reporting systems
- Assist with financial audits
- Respond to the inquiries from research community
- Reconcile prepaid maintenance and insurance accounts monthly
- Process daily Positive Pay
- Perform Accounts Receivable functions, including RDS deposit, cash receipt postings, month-end invoicing
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or a related field, with minimum 1-3 years progressive accounting experience.
- Experience with automated accounting systems required; Acumatica experience a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Experience with grant accounting and federal award compliance strongly preferred
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Working Conditions/Environment:
The work environment for this position will include an indoor office environment. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, temperature variations, etc. The incumbent may sustain posture in standing or seated position and may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.
VA Onboarding Requirements:
NCIRE is an affiliate organization of the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS), which requires all candidates to complete SFVA onboarding in addition to NCIRE's onboarding process. The SFVA is a federal agency that requires a federal background check, occupational health clearance, vaccines and immunizations, and drug testing for certain positions. Drug testing may include screening for marijuana which remains an illegal substance according to federal law. The failure to pass required drug testing will disqualify candidates from employment.
The base wage range for this position is $31.21-$39.67 per hour. The wage actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate’s geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.
