Title: Inventory Control Analyst Location: Green River, WY

Key Responsibilities:

Own and report on core materials management KPIs, including inventory turns, service levels, stockouts, inventory accuracy, critical spare availability, working capital, and warehouse performance. Analyze inventory trends, usage history, min/max levels, and reorder points to optimize stock levels and protect operational continuity. Support inventory governance across obsolete, excess, inactive, slow-moving, non-stock, vendor-managed, and bin stock categories; develop disposition strategies that reduce working capital exposure. Drive cycle counts accuracy programs, physical inventory events, and reconciliation activities; investigate discrepancies and root causes. Support material master governance including cleanup, classification, naming conventions, and catalog optimization in SAP or ERP. Develop and maintain dashboards or automated reports that surface inventory and operational performance to site leadership. Leverage AI-enabled analytics and reporting automation to improve forecasting, identify inventory risks, and support decision-making. Partner cross-functionally with Procurement, Warehouse Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Finance, and Operations to align inventory strategy with site needs. Support demand planning, outage and shutdown readiness, and strategic sourcing analysis to balance material availability with cost and inventory exposure. Monitor supplier performance and material lead times; recommend corrective actions and replenishment adjustments.

Activities:

Safety, Accuracy & Ownership

Prioritize safety, accuracy, and responsiveness in all materials management, procurement and supplier interactions. Maintain awareness of site safety requirements and regulatory guidelines related to material handing (MSHA, SDS documentation, PPE when entering laydown or warehouse area) Participate in root cause analyses (RCAs) to resolve inventory, material, or supplier-related issues. Maintain accurate and auditable documentation in compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.

Inventory Governance & Accuracy

Govern inventory health and recommend disposition, return-to-vendor, or write-off actions to reduce working capital exposure. Support critical spares strategies to ensure availability of mission-critical components for mining and processing reliability. Lead cycle count accuracy programs and physical inventory events; track KPIs and drive corrective action plans. Investigate inventory discrepancies and stock variances; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive controls.

Data Analytics, KPIs & Reporting

Build, maintain, and continuously improve dashboards and automated reports for site leadership and operational teams. Use SAP, Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools to analyze inventory and materials data; exposure to SQL preferred. Translate analytics into actionable recommendations for procurement, planning, and warehouse stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Integration & Planning Support

Collaborate with Maintenance and Operations on demand planning, outage planning, and shutdown readiness. Partner with Procurement on inventory optimization, strategic sourcing analysis, and supplier performance reviews. Support Finance with working capital reporting, inventory valuation analytics, and reserve/obsolescence assessments. Liaise with Warehouse Operations on layout, slotting, materials handling, and process improvements.

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

Identify and execute opportunities to automate manual reporting and standardize materials management processes. Support adoption of new technologies, including reporting automation, barcode scanning, RFID, and inventory management tools. Support ERP/SAP process improvements and implementation of best practices across warehousing and materials management.

Skill, Capability and Educational Requirements:

Required:

ERP Systems: Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems required; familiarity with MRP, inventory planning, and warehouse management processes preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Finance, Data Analytics, Materials Management, Operations Management, or a related field — or a relevant combination of education and experience. Minimum 3+ years of experience in inventory control, materials management, warehouse operations, inventory analytics, and procurement analytics. Advanced Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced operational environment.

Preferred:

Industry experience in mining, heavy industrial, manufacturing, oil & gas, or related sectors; maintenance inventory and critical spares experience strongly preferred. Familiarity with MRP, inventory planning, and warehouse management processes. Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools; exposure to SQL or reporting automation platforms. Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics or predictive reporting technologies. Familiarity with inventory optimization methodologies, working capital management, and critical spares analysis. Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodology exposure. APICS CPIM, Lean Six Sigma, or related certifications. Familiarity with RFID systems, barcode scanning technologies, or handheld warehouse devices.
