Internal Auditor

Job Description:

The Internal Auditor plays a key role in supporting the internal audit function at Dave and Buster’s. This position is responsible for assisting in testing internal controls to ensure they are properly designed and operating effectively. Assist in a variety of financial, operational, and compliance audits to enhance the organization’s effectiveness and efficiency. Participate in the full audit lifecycle, from planning and fieldwork to reporting and follow-up activities.

YOU WILL BE AN OUTSTANDING INTERNAL AUDITOR IF YOU:

• Have strong listening skills and ability to identify gaps in logic
• Can discreetly handle confidential and sensitive matters
• Can think strategically and assist in the identification and development of improved controls
• Have strong organizational and follow-up skills including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments
• Have a solid understanding and ability to apply risk and control concepts
• Can identify the underlying cause of an issue raised

DAY IN THE LIFE:

• Perform business process walkthroughs
• Test internal controls across the company
• Document audit findings and report deficiencies identified to Director of Internal Audit
• Examine and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of business process controls
• Help create audit programs for new initiatives or processes
• Execute audit programs by preparing work papers, contribute to the drafting of the report, and communicating findings and recommendations to stakeholders
• Provide advisory and consulting services to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and utilization of company assets
• Provide assistance in fraud investigations, as necessary
• Perform a wide variety of ad hoc special projects

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or relevant field
• 1 year of internal audit experience
• SOX experience highly preferred
• Experience navigating Workiva and/or Workday a plus
• Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles/standards
• Ability to recognize and act on deviations from both GAAP and sound internal control principles
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with all levels of management, including leading/facilitating meetings and presentations
