Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 plus superannuation

About Our Client
Our client is a large, locally owned accounting and advisory firm based in Newcastle.
The firm is known for building long-term client relationships, delivering practical business advice and maintaining a supportive internal culture. Their client base is business-focused, including SMEs, family groups, trusts, partnerships and private businesses.
You will join a team that currently includes two Managers, two Senior Accountants, a junior accountant and a trainee. This creates a strong structure around you while still giving you meaningful responsibility as a more experienced "doer" within the team.
The Role
As an Intermediate Accountant, you will work across business services, tax and compliance work while continuing to build confidence with clients and internal stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing annual accounts and tax returns
• Assisting with BAS, compliance work and smaller entity jobs
• Preparing management reports and advisory reports
• Working closely with clients and their bookkeepers
• Providing Xero support to clients where required
• Supporting Managers and Senior Accountants with client work
• Building your technical capability across business services and tax
• Contributing to a supportive and collaborative team environment

• 4+ years of experience in a business services or public practice firm
• Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting or a similar qualification
• CA or CPA currently underway
• Strong working knowledge of Xero
• Solid technical foundations across accounting, tax and compliance work
• Clear communication skills and a professional approach with clients
• A down-to-earth and approachable communication style
• A willingness to keep learning and developing
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to support a busy client-focused team
