JOB DESCRIPTION

Insurance AR Specialist will coordinate the billing and collections for the practice.  This includes posting payments, sending claims, correcting errors and appealing claims.

Director of Billing Services

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assure electronic submission of claims/bills is correct and performed in a timely manner. 

  2. Work electronic claim reports, including claim rejections. 

  3. Identify accounts that need appeal from payment batches.  Follow up on past due insurance accounts, complete appeals, when appropriate.  Assure that all billing contacts are noted in the computer system and appropriate documentation is maintained.  Communicate account information with insurance personnel in a clear, precise and polite manner.  

  4. Review correspondence daily.  Post deductibles and obtain all requested operative reports and medical records requests from insurance carriers. Follow up on all correspondence daily.  

  5. Review outstanding AR report for assigned payer monthly.  Complete appeals, when appropriate.  Assure that all billing contacts are noted in the computer system and appropriate documentation is maintained.  Communicate account information with insurance personnel in a clear, precise and polite manner.  

  6. Prepare refunds requests.

  7. Back up the payment posting specialist to insurance payments.  

  8. Balance deposits to the practice management system.  Perform financial close after balancing has occurred. 

  9. Answer phones and provide assistance to patients regarding balance inquiries.

  10. Maintain patient and personnel confidentiality at all times. 

  11. Maintain a high degree of professionalism when dealing with physicians, patients and co-workers. 

  12. Regular & prompt attendance on agreed upon daily and weekly start and end time.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS 

The employee is routinely required to sit for long periods of time, use a keyboard, mouse, telephone, headset, and other standard office equipment. Frequently communicate via text, email, phone, chat and video. This role requires the employee to commute to office and/or care center locations for staff meetings and hybrid-work, as required. 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK    

The core hours of work are Monday – Friday with an 8-hour work shift between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
