The Human Resources Assistant supports the HR department in executing payroll, onboarding, and employee engagement activities while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations. This role promotes positive employee relations, accurate recordkeeping, and smooth HR operations, contributing to overall organizational performance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple HR-related tasks with confidentiality and professionalism. Paychex payroll system is preferred.  

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 2 years of HR and administrative experience, in payroll, benefits administration, and employee relations.
  2. Experience with payroll is required.
  3. Strong communication, organization, and people skills.
  4. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential information.
  5. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.
  6. Positive, professional, and collaborative demeanor.
  7. Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  9. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  10. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. Process payroll accurately and timely.
  2. Assist with onboarding and orientation of new hires, including benefits enrollment and HR documentation.
  3. Maintain employee files and records, serving as a key point of contact for employees regarding payroll, policies, and HR procedures.
  4. Support HR leadership in recruitment activities, including posting job openings, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and coordinating background checks.
  5. Assist in employee training and development programs as needed.
  6. Monitor and report on HR metrics, including attendance, turnover, and payroll reports.
  7. Support HR audits, compliance activities, and reporting requirements.
  8. Assist in organizing employee engagement activities, including recognition programs (e.g., Employee of the Month), team events, and other HR initiatives.
  9. Collaborate with department managers to ensure HR processes are integrated into daily operations.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of all employees and payroll information.
  11. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations.
  12. Follow facility infection control, safety, and emergency procedures at all times.
  13. Report all incidents, unsafe conditions, and equipment hazards immediately.
  14. Demonstrate strong people skills, take a proactive approach to problem-solving, and collaborate effectively across departments while upholding company policies and regulatory compliance.
