Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) – Insurance & Investments

About the Role

The Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will lead the organization's financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, performance management, and strategic financial analysis across its Insurance and Investment businesses.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for translating financial and operational data into actionable insights for executive management and the Board. The role will work closely with Finance, Investments, Actuarial, Risk, Treasury, Underwriting, Claims, and business-unit leaders to support sustainable growth, profitability, capital efficiency, and investment performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Forecasting

Lead the annual budgeting and financial planning process across Insurance and Investment operations.

Develop rolling forecasts, multi-year financial plans, and long-term business models.

Monitor financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and strategic targets.

Conduct variance analysis and identify key drivers of revenue, expenses, profitability, and cash flow.

Develop financial scenarios and sensitivity analyses to support strategic decisions.

Insurance FP&A

Analyze insurance revenue, premium growth, claims, commissions, acquisition costs, operating expenses, and profitability.

Monitor key insurance KPIs, including loss ratios, expense ratios, combined ratios, persistency, and new-business performance.

Work closely with Actuarial and Risk teams on financial projections, reserves, capital requirements, and business assumptions.

Support product and portfolio profitability analysis.

Evaluate the financial impact of underwriting, pricing, claims, and distribution strategies.

Investment & Asset Management FP&A

Monitor investment income, portfolio performance, AUM, asset allocation, and investment-related expenses.

Analyze investment returns against budgets, forecasts, benchmarks, and strategic objectives.

Develop financial models for investment portfolios and new investment opportunities.

Support analysis of asset allocation, liquidity, capital deployment, and investment strategy.

Partner with Investment and Treasury teams to assess financial and commercial implications of investment decisions.

Management Reporting & Business Insights

Prepare monthly and quarterly financial performance reports for senior management and the Board.

Develop executive dashboards covering revenue, profitability, capital, liquidity, AUM, investment performance, and business KPIs.

Provide clear explanations of financial performance and key business drivers.

Deliver actionable recommendations based on financial and operational analysis.

Strategic Finance

Support the CFO and executive leadership in strategic planning and business decisions.

Evaluate business cases, acquisitions, investments, expansion initiatives, and major strategic projects.

Develop scenario models for growth, profitability, capital requirements, and market changes.

Identify opportunities for cost optimization and improved financial performance.

Support strategic resource allocation across Insurance and Investment businesses.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Lead, develop, and mentor the FP&A team.

Establish strong financial planning and performance-management processes.

Partner with senior leaders across Finance, Investment, Actuarial, Risk, Treasury, Underwriting, Claims, and Operations.

Present financial insights and recommendations to executive management and the Board.

Promote a data-driven and commercially focused finance culture.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent preferred.

MBA or advanced degree in Finance/Business is an advantage.

10–15+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, Financial Planning, Investment Finance, Insurance Finance, or related areas.

Significant experience in a senior finance management or FP&A leadership position.

Strong understanding of insurance financial performance and/or investment management.

Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, management reporting, and strategic analysis.

Experience working with senior executives and Board-level stakeholders.
