We're building a product people genuinely love and are fortunate to work with many of the world's most ambitious companies. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Head of Accounting to help build the financial infrastructure that supports the next stage of the company.

About the Role

We're looking for a builder to own and lead to own the accounting function at Granola.

You'll be our first in-house accounting hire, responsible for everything from month-end close and technical accounting to audits, tax, compliance, and financial systems. You'll manage our external accounting partners while building the processes and infrastructure needed to support a rapidly growing business.

This role is intentionally hands-on. We're looking for someone who enjoys building systems, improving processes, and staying close to the work. You'll have the opportunity to shape how accounting operates at Granola from the ground up, using thoughtful process design, technology, and automation to build a finance function that scales efficiently.

You'll work closely with Sales, Revenue Operations, Legal, and Finance, helping ensure our commercial processes scale alongside the company. Success in this role will come from combining deep accounting expertise with strong business judgment and an instinct for building scalable systems.

What You’ll Own

• Month-end close and financial reporting

• US GAAP compliance and technical accounting

• Audit, tax, and statutory compliance

• Multi-entity accounting and transfer pricing

• Management of external accounting, tax, and audit partners

• Accounting systems and future ERP implementations

• Quote-to-cash process improvements with Sales and Revenue Operations

• Billing and payments operations, including ownership of accounting workflows connected to Stripe

• Building the accounting function as Granola scales

What We're Looking For

• Experience leading accounting at a high-growth technology company, ideally as a Head of Accounting, Assistant Controller, or in a comparable leadership role.

• Deep expertise in US GAAP, technical accounting, and SaaS revenue recognition.

• Experience supporting multi-entity businesses and international operations.

• Familiarity with transfer pricing, intercompany accounting, and international tax matters.

• Strong understanding of billing systems, payments infrastructure, and revenue operations.

• Significant experience working with Stripe or similar billing and payments platforms.

• Strong operational instincts and a track record of improving business processes beyond the accounting function.

• Experience partnering closely with commercial organizations such as Sales, Revenue Operations, or Customer Success.

• A builder mindset and excitement to stay close to the details is a must.

Nice to Have

• Started your career at a Big Four accounting firm.

• Experience scaling a company through periods of rapid growth.

• Led or played a key role in an accounting ERP migration.

• Comfortable working directly with data and able to use SQL to investigate issues, validate assumptions, and answer business questions.

Our compensation philosophy is to hire the best people in the market and pay them accordingly with salary, variable, and equity.

Compensation:

$200k – $240k + equity and benefits!

Location

We are excited to work in-person from our office in San Francisco (most of the time). We are happy to offer relocation assistance to candidates who’ll be moving to SF to join us.
