Grower Accountant

Hoxton Circle has partnered with a local agriculture company in Monterey County to add some additional Grower Accounting support to their team. This position will come in via a contract/temporary basis with medical benefits and sick pay available, lasting about 2 months with a possible extension after. There will be an opportunity to become permanent based on candidate performance.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and support accounting processes related to producer/vendor partnership programs and shared investment agreements
• Oversee complex accounting activities across multiple operational regions and entities
• Maintain accurate documentation, reconciliation, and tracking of accounting transactions within customized settlement and financial systems
• Perform recurring calculations, data entry, reconciliations, and charge validations related to supplier/vendor settlements
• Provide backup support for accounting team functions during absences and peak business periods
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and inventory teams to support accounting accuracy and process improvements
• Assist with internal control compliance and communicate accounting procedures and requirements to internal stakeholders
• Support month-end close activities to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for general ledger activity
• Develop reporting, analysis, and financial summaries for leadership and operational teams
• Generate ad hoc financial and operational reports as requested by management
• Assist in preparing executive-level reporting packages and presentation summaries
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on streamlining accounting and operational processes
• Process accounts payable transactions and related financial documentation as needed

Requirements: 

• Minimum of Associates Degree focused in accounting or finance required
• A minimum of 4 years of grower accounting experience is desired, not required
• A minimum of 4 years of comparable experience in related agriculture accounting is highly desired.
• Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications (MS Excel) is highly desired
• Advanced proficiency in various programs and Famous and MS Office Suite desired 
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required
