DESCRIPTION
A growing hospitality organization currently managing 14 concepts across New York, New Jersey, and Florida is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Financial Controller. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury functions for the entire portfolio. Reporting to executive leadership, this individual will ensure the financial integrity of the group while managing a growing corporate office team in a fast-paced environment. This is an in-office, full-time position that requires a leader capable of troubleshooting inefficiencies and driving financial accuracy across multiple states and brands.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversees all financial reporting and month-end closing processes for the entire 14-concept portfolio.
- Reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Prepares and approves monthly P&Ls for all locations and coordinates detailed reporting with management.
- Analyzes sales, revenue, profitability, and expenses for each individual location to identify trends and opportunities.
- Ensures group compliance with all regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, and legal agreements.
- Manages the execution and filing of all operational taxes, including monthly state tax filings.
- Monitors and manages the internal bookkeeping, Accounts Receivable (A/R), and Accounts Payable (A/P) teams.
- Supports external audits by providing all required documentation and ensuring financial transparency.
Operational Involvement
The Financial Controller maintains the group’s fiscal health and technical systems by:
- Collaborating closely with accounting teams on year-end closings and quarterly reporting or payments for all entities.
- Troubleshooting and improving operational inefficiencies to streamline corporate accounting workflows.
- Working with POS and hospitality operating software to ensure accurate data integration and reporting integrity.
- Performing deep-dive reviews of expenses and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain tight financial controls.
- Coordinating with location managers to ensure financial data aligns with daily hospitality operations.
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 3 or more years of experience in Hospitality Finance or Accounting.
- Prior experience as a Controller, preferably within a hospitality or restaurant group.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks or comparable accounting and financial management software.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Applications, with a specific focus on Excel and related quantitative tools.
- Proven leadership ability to manage and develop a growing corporate office team.
- Excellent communication and quantitative skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in person at the corporate office for a standard Monday–Friday schedule.
