JOB SUMMARY
The Grants Accountant is responsible for managing the financial lifecycle of grant funding, tracking grant budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

- Manage and oversee financial activities for federal and state grant programs.
- Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant agreements, regulations, and funding requirements.
- Prepare and submit grant reimbursement requests and financial reports accurately and timely.
- Reconcile grant accounts and maintain supporting documentation for all grant-related transactions.
- Review invoices, requisitions, and expenditures for allowability and compliance with grant requirements.
- Track grant budgets and provide regular budget-to-actual analysis.
- Perform budget revisions and amendments.
- Monitor period of performance and funding availability.
- Maintain records to support audits.
- Prepare financial schedules and documentation for auditors and grantor agencies.
- Coordinate with program managers and department staff regarding grant expenditures, budget status, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate grant close-out information; prepare and submit close-out report, follow up with unresolved item(s), if any, through the period of financial acceptance.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, compliance issues, and reporting concerns.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple grants and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of government regulations associated with the transit industry
- Concise oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management systems.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in working with federal/state grant programs, including submission, grant approval, implementation, closeout, or comparable experience or any combination of education and experience deemed to be comparable.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS
A valid Louisiana Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Normal office environment.
