Role Overview

The GL Accountant plays a crucial role within the Finance Shared Service Centre team during a period of rapid growth. This role ensures accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting and provides accounting support to various parts of the organization in the Netherlands and across the wider MVHE Group.

Reporting to the Accounting Senior Manager, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement (50%) in our Amsterdam office with occasional travel to clinics across the Netherlands.

Summary of the Role

The Accountant in the MVHE Finance Operations team, reports directly to the Accounting Senior Manager SSC. This role supports statutory reporting, compliance, and accounting activities for Dutch legal entities, ensuring accurate financial records and timely filings under supervision. This role requires collaboration with various internal stakeholders, including market operations, finance teams, clinics and external auditors. The role holder will work across multiple reporting systems, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external standards such as US GAAP and local GAAP. The position demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex accounting processes in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing annual financial statements under Dutch GAAP

• Support the preparation of notes and disclosures

• Help reconcile group US GAAP to local GAAP differences

• Support corporate income tax (CIT) and VAT (BTW) data preparation

• Support other statistical and statutory filings

• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation

• Respond to auditors’ requests under guidance in a timely manner

• Perform manual journal entries and accruals, prepare balance sheet reconciliations

• Ensure compliance with MVHE Group accounting standards and support implementation of new policies

• Contribute to ad-hoc tasks and continuous improvement initiatives

Education & Professional Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a similar field 

Progress toward accounting certification is a plus

Knowledge & Experience

1-3 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting within large, matrix organizations, Shared Service Centres and/or audit firms (Big 4)

Exposure to Dutch entities or compliance is desirable

Analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

Able to work under time pressure, with advanced MS Office / Excel skills 

Experience in supporting statutory or group audits is a plus 

Experience working within Oracle ERP is desired 

Fluent in English, Dutch desirable
