The General Accounting Manager will be responsible for the management of higher-level general accounting activities such as financial statement preparation including notes and staying up to date with new standards and updates. The Manager is expected to have a significant role in the upcoming ERP consolidation project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lease Accounting
- Ensure Compliance with ASC 842 by managing the company’s lease accounting process, including identification, classification, and accurate reporting of lease agreements
- Maintain lease schedules, and ensure timely recognition of right-to-use assets and lease liabilities in accordance with ASC 842 guidelines
Related Party Transactions
- Prepare notes for related party transactions
Debt & Financing Transactions
- Prepare entries for finance transactions such as interest rate swaps
- Bank compliance certificate support and completion
- Support for borrow base schedule
Property leases
- Maintain schedules and prepare journal entries for property leases and similar transactions
Cash and Treasury/Risk Management Support and Liaison
- Ensure Line of Credit and other debt is accounted for properly
- Provide cash forecasts as needed
Internal and external support
- Liaison with the external auditors
- Provide support regarding board presentations as requested.
- Financial Statement preparation in compliance with auditing standards
Review and approve Journal Entries as assigned
Review and reconciliation of Inter-company transactions
Support Deloitte Tax Team
Prepare and review local and state tax returns
Support the consolidation of seven entities into a single Famous instance without the need for reconciling differences
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Accounting, Agricultural industry preferred
- Proficient in Famous, Trullion (ASC 842), Word, Excel, and other computer software programs
- Strong collaborator with ability to interact with all levels of staff in the organization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a high volume, multi-deadline environment
- Must exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making
