General Accountant

Job Description

We're seeking a General Accountant to support our client, a national finance team during a period of catch-up and financial clean-up work following recent acquisition activity. This is a fully remote contract position, aligned with Atlantic and Eastern Time Zones. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial records, supporting month-end close processes, and contributing to a major capital asset clean-up initiative.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Support month-end close processes and general ledger activities
• Assist with clean-up and reconciliation of financial records following acquisition integration
• Lead and support capital asset / fixed asset accounting clean-up initiatives
• Prepare and review working paper files to support accurate financial reporting
• Assist with ERP-related work, including data validation and system migration support
• Contribute to financial reporting consistency across multiple operational sites
• Support finance integration work across newly acquired entities
• Collaborate with a national finance team across multiple provinces
• Provide ad hoc accounting and project-based support as required

• Strong technical accounting background with solid month-end close experience
• Experience with working paper files and reconciliations
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and clean financial data
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, project-heavy environment
• Strong communicator and collaborative team player across a national structure
• ERP experience required; NetSuite exposure strongly preferred
• Experience with fixed asset or capital asset accounting considered an asset
• Exposure to multi-entity or multi-location environments an asset
