About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an FP&A Consultant to report to the VP, Finance and provide hands-on support across budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and executive-ready reporting in a fast-moving, change-driven environment. This is an opportunity to partner closely with finance leadership and cross-functional budget owners, bringing structure and clarity to planning cycles and delivering analysis that supports decisions tied to governance and operating model reviews. You’ll help connect inputs from multiple systems, improve the usability of core models, and produce scenario-based insights for leadership and committees. If you enjoy building practical models, translating financial needs for non-finance stakeholders, and bringing order to complex data and planning processes, this contract offers meaningful impact and visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and manage complex financial models and scenario analysis to support organizational decision-making (including governance and operating model considerations)
- Own the budgeting model and coordinate the information collection process and budget meetings across the organization (budget cycle runs summer through winter)
- Lead ongoing forecasting and reforecasting cycles in response to organizational change
- Prepare timely, decision-useful financial analysis, reporting, graphs, and scenarios for finance leadership and committees
- Partner with non-finance teams to develop assumptions, forecasts, and models for their areas; clearly translate finance requirements into operational terms
- Pull together information from multiple disjointed systems, maintaining organized files and data sources to support analysis and reporting
- Support Board, Finance & Audit Committee, and Federation committees with financial information and analysis
- Contribute to monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis and related reporting needs
- Identify opportunities to streamline or improve finance processes, including data mapping/reconciliation efforts with internal partners
- Create and maintain SOP-style documentation and support knowledge transfer to the existing finance team
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, analysis, and financial modeling (including scenario analysis)
- Strong, hands-on budgeting and forecasting experience, including maintaining and improving budget models
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (ability to use advanced functions for in-depth analysis and reporting)
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word; Access considered an asset)
- Comfort working across multiple data sources/systems and organizing inputs into usable analysis
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and partner with cross-functional budget owners
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage competing priorities, and comfort operating under tight timelines with a high degree of autonomy
- Ability to support executive-level stakeholders with clear, accurate, and well-structured outputs
- Not-for-profit/charity (fundraising) experience is preferred
- Exposure to QuickBooks Online, Reach Reporting, and/or Raiser’s Edge is an asset
- Knowledge of ASNPO (not-for-profit accounting standards) is an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
- Professional accounting/finance designation (or equivalent)
