THE OPPORTUNITY
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, identifying trends, variances and key drivers impacting results
- Lead financial statement review meetings and provide insights
- Develop and maintain management reporting packages (KPIs, dashboards, variance reports)
- Assist in annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles, updating financial projections based on business changes
- Conduct ad hoc analysis for operations, finance and other teams
- Perform month-end close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and subledger reviews
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Oversee the capital expenditure process including annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, meeting organization and corporate reporting
- Maintain the daily journal batch update process
- Monitor the Goods Received Note (GRN) process, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner
- Oversee the leased vehicles process
- Execute ad hoc updates to Finance Master Data
- Assist with internal and external audits, preparing supporting schedules and documentation
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, enhance financial models and tools, and contribute to process standardization across finance
- Prepare daily/weekly bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and resolve in a timely manner
- Prepare and submit monthly GST/HST and other government reporting in a timely manner.
THE REQUIREMENTS
- University degree in Accounting and/or Business Administration
- CPA designation completed or in progress is considered an asset but not a requirement
- 1-3 years experience in a finance role
- Extensive experience with large fully integrated ERP computer systems
- Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.
- Knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records and the like is essential.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
- Knowledge of publicly traded companies.
- Good project management skills and the ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills are essential.
- Ability to adapt to and learn new software.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
