PURPOSE:
The Financial Analyst supports PCC Structurals Carson City by providing financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and operational insight to help drive business performance. This position partners closely with the Plant Controller, Accounting Manager, Operations, and plant leadership to analyze financial and manufacturing results, identify trends and opportunities, and provide meaningful information that supports business decisions.
The Financial Analyst plays an important role in connecting plant operations to financial performance through analysis of manufacturing costs, labor, inventory, scrap, productivity, capital spending, and other key performance indicators. This role develops reporting and analytical tools that improve visibility into business performance and supports the plant's financial planning, forecasting, and continuous improvement efforts.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Analysis & Reporting
· Prepare recurring financial and operational reports for plant leadership.
· Analyze actual financial performance against budget, forecast, prior periods, and established business targets.
· Perform detailed analysis of revenue, cost of sales, operating expenses, EBIT, working capital, and other key financial measures.
· Identify significant trends, variances, risks, and opportunities and communicate findings to the Plant Controller and appropriate business leaders.
· Develop clear financial analyses and summaries that help leadership understand business performance and make informed decisions.
· Perform ad hoc financial analysis in support of operational and strategic initiatives.
· Maintain accurate supporting schedules, financial models, and analytical workpapers.
Manufacturing & Cost Analysis
· Analyze manufacturing performance, including labor utilization, overhead absorption, scrap, rework, material usage, production efficiency, and other manufacturing variances.
· Partner with Operations and Production leaders to understand the operational drivers behind financial results.
· Analyze product and manufacturing costs to identify trends, unfavorable performance, and improvement opportunities.
· Support standard cost development, analysis, and maintenance activities.
· Assist with analysis of inventory levels, inventory turns, excess and obsolete inventory, and other working capital measures.
· Support cycle count and physical inventory activities, including analysis of inventory adjustments and trends.
· Analyze the financial impact of operational improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
· Develop tools and reporting that improve visibility into manufacturing performance.
Financial Planning & Forecasting
· Support development of the annual operating plan, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
· Prepare and maintain financial models supporting sales, labor, operating expenses, capital expenditures, inventory, cash flow, and profitability.
· Work with functional leaders to develop assumptions and gather information required for forecasts and financial plans.
· Analyze forecast performance and identify changes in business conditions that may impact expected results.
· Support scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis to evaluate business risks and opportunities.
· Assist the Plant Controller with preparation of financial presentations and planning materials for plant and division leadership.
Operational Partnership & KPIs
· Partner with Operations, Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and other functional teams to understand business performance and financial impacts.
· Develop, maintain, and analyze key financial and operational performance indicators.
· Assist leaders in understanding how operational decisions impact cost, profitability, inventory, and working capital.
· Provide data and financial analysis supporting productivity, cost reduction, scrap reduction, labor efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Participate in operational meetings and provide financial insight as appropriate.
· Develop reporting that translates financial data into actionable information for non-financial leaders.
Capital & Business Analysis
· Support preparation and financial evaluation of capital expenditure requests.
· Perform return-on-investment, payback, and other financial analyses for proposed capital projects.
· Track capital spending against approved budgets and identify significant variances.
· Support post-investment analysis to evaluate actual results against project assumptions and expected benefits.
· Perform financial analysis supporting new business opportunities, operational changes, make/buy decisions, and other business initiatives as assigned.
Accounting & Close Support
· Support the Plant Controller and Accounting Manager during monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
· Prepare assigned journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and financial analyses.
· Research financial variances and unusual account activity.
· Assist with inventory and manufacturing-related accounting analysis.
· Maintain accurate documentation supporting financial analyses and assigned accounting activities.
· Support internal and external audit requests as needed.
Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
· Utilize ERP, financial reporting, and analytical tools to collect, validate, analyze, and report financial and operational data.
· Identify opportunities to automate or improve recurring financial reports and analytical processes.
· Develop efficient reporting tools, dashboards, spreadsheets, and financial models.
· Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial reporting.
· Support continuous improvement of Finance processes and reporting capabilities.
General
· Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, customer, and financial information.
· Develop strong working relationships throughout the organization and demonstrate a customer-service approach when supporting internal business partners.
· Demonstrate ownership, follow-through, and accountability for assigned financial analyses and deliverables.
· Perform other duties as assigned to support department and business objectives.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field required.
· Two to five years of financial analysis, accounting, cost accounting, FP&A, or related experience preferred.
· Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
· Experience analyzing manufacturing costs, labor, inventory, standard costs, or operational performance preferred.
· Working knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
· Experience with ERP/MRP systems and financial reporting tools.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret large data sets.
· Experience developing financial models, dashboards, or management reporting preferred.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and translate data into meaningful business insights.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences.
· Ability to work collaboratively across departments and develop effective relationships with operational leaders.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet reporting and project deadlines.
· Demonstrates a high level of ownership, follow-through, accuracy, and accountability.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to work primarily in an office environment with regular interaction throughout manufacturing operations.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout office and manufacturing areas.
• Frequent computer use and extended periods of data analysis and document review.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to safely enter manufacturing areas and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
ITAR REQUIREMENTS: This position requires access to export-controlled technical data and technology. Under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR), applicants must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15.
