The Global Treasury Controllership (GTC) team is part of the American Express Global Controllership Organization. GTC plays a significant role in the Middle and Back-office treasury functions, financial reporting processes for the Company’s cash, debt, securities and financing transactions, investments, and derivatives ensuring the Capital, Liquidity and Exposure Management needs of the company are met while closely partnering with Treasury Organization.
This analyst role is within the Global Treasury Advisory and Valuation team of GTC and is responsible for supporting transition and compliance readiness for regulatory reporting. The individual is also responsible for ensuring appropriate and consistent reporting across the Company’s Treasury portfolio and will support key dynamic projects across the team.

- Support the company’s ongoing accounting and reporting initiatives that impact GTC (products such as debt, investment, derivative and hedging transactions, fair value measurements, etc.)
- Support and the company’s growing external reporting requirements
- Lead and manage the project plans for GTC team
- Participate in projects driving automations and process enhancements.
- Build and maintain successful collaboration with business partners, e.g. Treasury, External Reporting, Exposure Management, Global Accounting Policy Group, Legal, Risk, and Tax.
- Document standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintain issue logs, and maintain compliance with derivative and valuation controls and establish framework.
- Support on internal and external audit
- Additional opportunities to assist with the valuation of AXP’s Balance Sheet, including FX and interest rate swap derivative portfolios
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years’ experience in Audit, Accounting, or Finance – Big 4 experience or CPA preferred
- Basic understanding of derivatives accounting, valuation and collateral management preferred
- Basic understanding of US GAAP required – knowledge of ASC 815, 820, or 830, a plus
- Strong project management acumen preferred
- Very strong communication, prioritization, presentation, and organizational skills
- Possess abilities to challenge the status quo and apply a process-improvement mindset
- Proficient in MS Office - Excel and PowerPoint.
- Working Knowledge of the following: Oracle, MS Power Platform (Automate, BI), Python, GenAi
- Experience in Treasury/Treasury Controllership and/or knowledge of capital markets a plus, but not required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
