Internship Program

At Five9 we are committed to providing an exceptional experience for our interns. Through our Speaker Series, Intern Buddies, Employee Resource Groups, and other events, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the best in the business. This is a full-time, paid internship based out of our headquarters in San Ramon, CA. This role is hybrid. 3 days a week (M, W, TH) in office is required. The program runs 11 weeks with the opportunity to start in early or mid-June.

Financial Analyst Intern

We are actively searching for a Financial Analyst Intern to join Five9’s Finance department located in San Ramon, CA. In this role, you will work with a lean team spanning Strategic Finance and FP&A to track key performance indicators, deliver ad hoc financial analyses, prepare budgets and forecasts of expenses, and participate in new Strategic Finance and FP&A initiatives. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work, is deeply analytical, has strong attention to detail, thrives in a fast-paced environment and communicates exceptionally well.

Responsibilities

• Create deeply thoughtful analyses and presentations to communicate strategic recommendations
• Distill huge amounts of data into actionable insights and trends
• Design, implement and track important financial and operating metrics, benchmarking performance against strategic goals
• Prepare materials for key stakeholders, including Five9’s executive team, Board of Directors and investors
• Assist in preparation of budgets and forecasts of expenses. Monitor key trends, assumptions on headcount, capital expenditures and operating expenses
• Prepare monthly / quarterly budget vs. actual variance analysis
• Work closely with accounting team in monthly close process to ensure timeliness and accuracy of entries
• Leverage Five9 financial systems to automate and scale current processes and reports
• Participate in new Strategic Finance and FP&A initiatives, including ad hoc analysis and process improvement
• Collaborate across internal teams to gather reports and data

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting or a highly analytical field (i.e. Engineering, Math)
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (GCP, BigQuery, & SQL experience a plus)
• Exceedingly strong analytical acumen and financial modeling capabilities
• Detail-oriented and systematic approach resulting in high levels of accuracy
• High level of integrity, professionalism, motivation and attention to detail
• Ability to succeed with proactivity and self-starter mentality
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• A team player with strong organization skills, including ability to manage multiple projects / competing priorities under tight deadlines in parallel
• Must be able to work onsite at the San Ramon, CA., headquarters this summer

The hourly compensation for this role is: $25 - $25 USD
