Reporting to the Head of Reporting, the Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reviewing assigned month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting activities. This role is accountable for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts, preparing reconciliations and accounting schedules, supporting the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, and helping ensure compliance with IFRS, internal controls, and reporting requirements. The position requires strong SAP experience, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced mining environment while collaborating with operational and corporate stakeholders.

Main Accountabilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
• Prepare and review assigned monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations and working papers.
• Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, allocations and account analysis.
• Maintain and reconcile assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts, including debt, leases, prepaids, deferred financing costs, exploration and evaluation assets, accruals, provisions, finance costs and other assigned areas.
• Investigate and resolve accounting variances and unusual transactions.
Financial Analysis & Compliance
• Support the preparation of IFRS-compliant financial statements, management reporting and audit deliverables.
• Analyze financial information, investigate variances and support management reporting and decision-making.
• Assist with annual reporting requirements, including ESTMA and other regulatory filings.
• Support internal and external audits through preparation of schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation.

Backup & Cross-Functional Support
• Crosstrain and provide backup coverage for treasury functions, including bank reconciliations, wire payments, foreign exchange transactions and banking administration.
• Crosstrain and provide backup coverage for corporate credit card administration, travel allocations and other corporate accounting activities.
• Provide support across the finance team during absences, peak reporting periods and special projects.

Systems & Process Improvement
• Utilize SAP and Microsoft Excel for financial reporting, reconciliations, analysis and month-end processing.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls and efficiency.
• Maintain documentation of accounting procedures and controls.

Main Qualifications

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is CAD $82,000 to $95,000, aligned with Baffinland’s approved compensation framework and current market conditions.

Salary ranges are provided as guidelines. Final compensation will be determined based on:
• Relevant education and certifications
• Related training and experience
• Internal equity considerations
