The Role: The Financial Accountant partners closely with both the Accounting and Business teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, including taxation. You will apply your strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. sales tax regulations to support compliance and drive sound financial reporting.Success in this position requires a highly analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in identifying discrepancies, supporting process improvements, and contributing to overall financial excellence across the organization.This position is based out of our Calgary head office. This is not a remote work opportunity. Job Responsibilities:Responsible for the review, filing, and compliance of Canadian and US indirect taxes, including sales tax registrations, filings, notices, and related tax research.Research and analyze Canadian and US tax regulations and assess the impact of tax changes on the business.Reconcile Fixed Asset Continuity schedules, other depreciable assets and assist with year-end tax schedules and supporting documentation.Support the preparation and review of financial reports for leadership team, including monthly Income Statement and Balance SheetSupport the budget and forecast process by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial information, preparing variance analysis, and assisting with department follow-ups as required.Support the monthly review and reconciliation of customer, in-house, and software inventory accounts, including related analysis and process improvement opportunities.Identify and implement improvements to financial and business controlsIdentify opportunities for process improvement and work with the team to implement solutions.Provide coaching and training for junior team membersQualifications:5+ years of accounting experience with a demonstrated level of increasing responsibilities, including 2+ years of experience in Canadian-Controlled Private Corporation (CCPC)2+ years of experience with Canadian and US tax compliance, including indirect tax filings, tax research, and regulatory requirementsCompletion of, or progressing towards, a CPA designation, with expected completion within 1 yearBachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, business administration, or a related fieldProven experience with full cycle accounting, financial statement preparation and analysis, and account reconciliationsAbility to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment with strong attention to detailSelf-directed with the ability to show initiative and take responsibilityProficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook); intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel is requiredExcellent client service skills and ability to handle high volumes and multiple priorities in a professional, courteous manner while meeting strict deadlinesPositive and professional work ethics, which include: Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence What we offer:Professional Development – Continuous training, industry certifications, and clear pathways for career advancement.Travel Opportunities - Travel to locations across Canada, the U.S., and the CaribbeanComprehensive health benefits - Medical and dental coverage to support your well-being.Paid Time Off – Generous PTO to help you recharge and maintain work-life balance.Inclusive culture - A collaborative, supportive team environment where your ideas and voice truly matter.Employee recognition - Regular appreciation programs and performance-based incentivesCompetitive compensation packageCompetitive annual base salaryAttractive referral bonusesStaff discounts – Exclusive savings with partners such as GM, Dell, and more Should you be selected for an interview, you will be contacted via email.
