Office location: Kilkenny, this is a hybrid role.
Role Purpose
The Financial Accountant will support the Group Finance function across a portfolio of companies, gaining experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, and month‑end processes. The role is designed for a candidate with some prior experience in a finance team who is looking to develop within a multi‑entity, fast‑growing group.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts for multiple group entities.
Support month‑end close activities, including journal postings, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, investigating and resolving differences in a timely manner.
Assist with intercompany reconciliations and postings across the Group.
Transactional & Operational Support
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice posting, supplier queries, and customer balances.
Assist with bank reconciliations and cash postings.
Help maintain accurate fixed asset registers and post depreciation journals.
Assist in the preparation and coordination of the annual budgeting process.
Statutory, Audit & Compliance Support
Assist in the preparation of year‑end statutory accounts and audit schedules.
Support external auditors with information requests during year‑end and interim audits.
Assist with VAT returns and other statutory filings, under supervision.
Ensure financial records are maintained in line with Group policies and internal controls.
Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
Work with finance systems (e.g. ERP, AP automation, reporting tools) to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, documentation, and controls.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of finance procedures and working papers.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Part‑qualified or working toward a recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Some prior experience in a finance team, such as trainee, finance assistant, accounts assistant, or intern role.
Basic understanding of double‑entry accounting and financial statements.
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
Good Excel skills and confidence working with numerical data.
Desirable
Experience working in a multi‑entity or group structure.
Exposure to month‑end close or audit processes.
Experience using ERP or accounting systems (e.g. SAP Business One or similar).
Interest in learning about statutory reporting, tax, and compliance in an international group environment.
