We are seeking a highly analytical, process driven Senior Accountant to join our finance team, reporting to the Controller. The role is responsible for delivering an accurate P&L and Balance Sheet in a high-volume, multi-channel environment and requires close partnership with FP&A, IT, inventory and cross-functional teams. To succeed in this role, you need to have strong accounting fundamentals, systems fluency, and the passion to support ongoing business transformation in a fast-paced retail and e-commerce organization.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in accounting fundamentals, systems, automations and integrations (POS, Microsoft Dynamics and e-commerce platforms), process improvements, and data management.
Key Responsibilities:
Month End Close: Lead month-end close for a high-volume retail and e-commerce business, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting. Daily Accounting Operations: Support the Controller with day-to-day accounting, Accounts Payable and cash management, including streamlining A/P workflows such as Rogers and sub-agent processes. Cash Flow, Budgeting and Forecasting: Contribute to cash flow projections, budgeting and ongoing forecasting activities. General Ledger Management: Maintain the General Ledger and chart of account structure to ensure accuracy and consistency and proper mapping across all cost centers. Internal Controls and GAAP: Document processes, support policy design, manage the month-end close schedule and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control standards. Process Improvements: Identify and implement automation opportunities and efficiency improvements, across accounting workflows. Process Mapping: Document end-to-end workflows, standardize procedures, and support scalable operational practices. Systems and Integration: Participate in system integration activities and drive enhancements across Microsoft Dynamics, POS and e-commerce platforms. Ad-hoc Activities: Provide analytical support, and on-demand reporting for business leaders, including insights into performance and operational drivers.
Requirements:
Highly analytical, self starter and process driven with exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Positive and proactive approach with the ability to manage competing priorities Strong sense of ownership and accountability in delivering accurate and timely financial results
Minimum 5 years of Canadian experience in month end close and financial reporting within a retail or e-commerce environment, including inventory accounting, management reporting and audit
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics and advanced Excel skills Strong data and systems capability, including experience with process mapping, automation tools, and cross-platform integration (ERP, POS, e-commerce, payment processors)
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with CPA designation completed or in progress
Compensation - $85-$95k plus 5% performance bonus Hybrid work model requiring 3 days per week onsite. Additional office presence may be required during the training, year end close, audit, and critical projects.
