Payroll Administrator (Full-Time, 6-Month Contract) Behind every successful paycheck is a payroll team that makes it happen. As our Payroll Administrator, you'll partner closely with our Payroll Specialist to support accurate, compliant payroll for approximately 4,000 employees while delivering exceptional service. What You'll Do
Partner on Payroll Processing (45% of your time)
Collaborate with the Payroll Specialist to process semi-monthly payroll for 4,000+ hourly and salaried employees across four business entities
Manage payroll imports including commissions, bonuses, compensation adjustments, and deductions
Process payroll payments and generate paycheques accurately and on schedule
Verify payroll data and ensure all payments are properly authorized
Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency
Support management with payroll-related guidance and recommendations
Assist with year-end payroll activities, including T4s and T2200s
Be the Payroll Problem-Solver (35% of your time)
Respond to payroll inquiries related to vacations, terminations, pay discrepancies, reimbursements, and more
Review payroll transactions for accuracy and compliance
Calculate termination pay in accordance with applicable legislation
Issue Records of Employment (ROEs) and liaise with Service Canada as required
Provide exceptional customer service to employees and internal stakeholders
Ensure Union Compliance (10% of your time)
Maintain compliance with collective agreements and applicable regulations
Administer union dues, benefits, and pension contributions
Process and reconcile union remittances accurately
Drive Excellence (10% of your time)
Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes
Prepare payroll reports and support management reporting
Process off-cycle payrolls and special payments
Support mass ROE processing and employee deactivations
What You Bring Your Expertise
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, compliance, accounting, and tax regulations
Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS platforms
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas
