MAIN DUTIES:
Supervise and support the Accounts Payable Administrator and Accounting Coordinator. Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance. Coordinate month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, working papers, and audit preparation. Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning. Prepare financial reports and analyses for leadership to support informed decision-making. Complete GST filings and government reporting requirements while ensuring regulatory compliance. Maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and accounting procedures. Support asset management, contract administration, and records management. Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and support technology and system enhancements. Collaborate with leaders across the organization to provide financial guidance and support organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred; candidates actively working toward CPA certification will also be considered. Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end/year-end processes. Previous supervisory or leadership experience is considered an asset. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting standards. Experience with GST reporting, audit preparation, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and other business applications. Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality. Must have a clear and current criminal record check.
SCHEDULE:
Part-time, permanent position. Primarily office-based with occasional travel to other organizational locations as required. Some flexibility may be required during month-end, year-end, audit periods, and other peak operational times.
