Overall Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for directing financial activities of the organization by performing the following duties personally, through subordinate supervisors/employees, or coordinated with other organization team members.
Essential Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Finance Director, The Finance Manager performs a variety of complex, professional, analytical, and confidential financial services. Duties include:
- Establishes, or recommends to management, major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies for the organization.
- Recommends modifications to existing organization programs.
- Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
- Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
- Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
- Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
- Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
- Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
- Arranges for audits of company's accounts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Establishes relations with banks and other financial institutions.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assumes general administrative duties including fax, filing, copying, etc.
- Attend webinars, workshops, training and/or meetings as requested by the Director of Finance.
- Perform special project research and data collection activities as requested by the Director of Finance and analyzes and interprets data, and prepares reports.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree (MBA, MHA, or MA) or equivalent highly preferred. Healthcare related certification preferred (HFMA, ACHE, etc.).
- Four to ten years related finance experience required.
- Experience in a health care setting and/or non-profit setting strongly preferred.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft software programs (MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). General proficiency needed in accounting software, payroll systems, Power BI, Smart Sheet, etc.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to work under pressure; effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive/confidential information and situations with diplomacy, confidence and tact.
- Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
- Dependable and excellent attendance records. Must be able to work full time in the office. Evening and weekend overtime work may be required to meet the organization’s needs and project deadlines
- Excellent communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with various levels and backgrounds of employees within an organization.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, and other written materials.
- Excellent problem-solving skill and be able to identify and address, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated abilities to analyze and interpret data, provide recommendations and resolve issues in a direct but positive manner.
Work Conditions:
Some traveling required to visit other sites that may require a day or overnight trip to attend events. Workload may be demanding at times and requires professionalism and confidentiality.
Physical Demands:
This position requires:
- Sitting, walking, and standing associated with a normal medical, clinical and administrative office environment, with some bending, reaching, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for tasks involving standard office equipment and computer keyboard, including repetitive movements, such as typing.
- Traveling to work sites, including some exposure to outside elements.
- Exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations, requiring adherence to extensive safety precautions and possibly the use of protective equipment.
