Finance Business Partner

Lighthouse Software Group (a Valsoft portfolio group) is looking for a Finance Business Partner to support financial reporting, analysis, and controls across our portfolio of software businesses. This role works closely with portfolio company finance teams, legal, and group leadership — spanning day-to-day reporting as well as finance integration work for newly acquired businesses. The FBP will report directly to the Financial Controller.

• Prepare and coordinate Monthly Business Reviews across multiple portfolio companies, consolidating financial results and commentary for leadership.
• Track and analyze revenue trends, including new customer revenue and churn, across portfolio businesses.
• Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes across portfolio companies, reviewing submissions, challenging assumptions, and consolidating results for group leadership.
• Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast, analyze key variances, and work with business unit finance teams to identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
• Oversee a small team responsible for bookkeeping and accounting activities across portfolio companies, reviewing work products for accuracy and completeness.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by accounting staff.
• Perform accounting analysis for complex transactions and non-routine matters, providing guidance on appropriate accounting treatment and financial reporting implications.
• Support external audit requests (e.g., responding to auditor questionnaires on revenue recognition and other technical matters) and liaise with external auditors as needed.
• Support pre- and post-acquisition functions, including financial integration, purchase accounting and related tasks.
• Support treasury management activities across the portfolio, including cash flow monitoring, liquidity planning, intercompany funding, and cash repatriation initiatives to ensure businesses maintain appropriate working capital and liquidity levels.
• Assist with the development and execution of group treasury processes, including cash forecasting, banking administration, payment controls, and relationships with financial institutions.
• Monitor portfolio company cash positions and forecasted cash requirements, identifying funding needs, excess cash opportunities, and potential liquidity risks, while providing recommendations to group leadership.
• Act as the finance point of contact for portfolio company controllers and finance staff, chasing data, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring group reporting deadlines are met.
• Maintain and streamline data collection templates/processes used across the portfolio.

• 3–5 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally including exposure to multi-entity, M&A, or portfolio company environments.
• CPA designation strongly preferred (in progress or completed).
• Solid working knowledge of revenue recognition principles and general IFRS.
• Experience supporting or coordinating external audits.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite) is an asset.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail - comfortable reconciling messy, legacy data (bank statements, AR ledgers, cash application) to find root causes.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication - able to liaise confidently with business unit leaders, auditors, legal counsel, and group finance.
• Ability to manage multiple portfolio companies/stakeholders simultaneously and keep reporting cycles and deadlines on track.
• Process-oriented mindset; able to spot inefficiencies and improve recurring workflows.
• Proactive and ownership-driven - chases down answers rather than waiting to be asked twice.
