The Finance Assistant is responsible for supporting the organization’s payment processing and reconciliation activities including processing invoices and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded. This role involves ensuring proper invoice approvals, maintaining organized financial records, and responding to inquiries related to accounts payable.Reporting to the Controller, the Finance Assistant collaborates with internal finance teams and other departments to support effective financial operations and reporting. This position also supports month-end and year-end closing processes and contributes to the continuous improvement of financial systems and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Verify and code accounts payable invoices for accurate input into the accounting system. Obtain necessary approvals for all accounts payable invoices in accordance with company policies. Record accounts payable transactions and related journal entries into the accounting system. Maintain organized records by filing paid invoices and expense reports in a systematic manner. Respond promptly and professionally to both internal and external accounts payable inquiries. Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Adhere to the Stratford Festival Health & Safety Commitment and Procedures, and ensure that safe work practices and policies are supported and enforced within reporting structure. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Post-secondary diploma program, typically a two year program, or equivalent, (i.e. Community college, Technical Institute or Trade School, etc.) in accounting or related field 1 to 2 years of related experience Experience with Microsoft Office programs Knowledge of Microsoft GP and Tessitura considered an asset
