Job Description Summary
The BENELUX Tax Lead is part of the European Regional Tax Team and is responsible for end-to-end tax oversight across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.The role leads governance, review, and sign-off over key tax filings and deliverables; manages tax risk and controversy matters; and partners closely with Finance, Treasury, Legal, business stakeholders, specialist tax teams, and external advisors to support compliant, consistent, and effective tax operations across the region.
While BENELUX will remain the role’s primary area of responsibility, the individual may also provide tax leadership, oversight, or project support for other European jurisdictions, depending on business priorities, team capacity, and evolving organisational needs.
The role requires strong judgment, ownership, collaboration, and the ability to operate effectively within a complex global matrixed organisation.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end tax oversight across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
- Provide governance, review, and sign-off over key tax filings, calculations, and deliverables.
- Identify, assess, document, and escalate material tax risks and exposures.
- Lead tax audits, disputes, and controversy matters across the region.
- Oversee external advisor engagements, including scope, quality, delivery, and spend management.
- Partner with business teams on commercial, operational, supply-chain, and transactional matters affecting the region.
- Partner with Finance, Treasury, Legal, and other stakeholders on day-to-day and strategic tax matters.
- Support cash-tax forecasting, payment readiness, and related governance.
- Maintain transparency over key tax matters, deliverables, risks, and deadlines.
- Drive strong operating discipline, process standardisation, and continuous improvement across regional tax activities.
- Coordinate with specialist tax teams, including transfer pricing, indirect tax, international tax, and tax controversy.
- Provide tax oversight and support for other European jurisdictions or regional initiatives, as required, in coordination with the relevant regional and global tax teams.
Required Qualifications
- Strong tax experience within a multinational or similarly complex environment.
- Broad experience across direct tax, indirect tax, and cross-border matters.
- Experience reviewing and overseeing tax filings and deliverables prepared by internal teams and external providers.
- Proven audit and controversy management capability.
- Strong judgment, ownership, stakeholder-management, and communication skills.
- Ability to identify, assess, and appropriately escalate material tax matters.
- Ability to operate independently and influence effectively within a matrixed organization.
- Ability and willingness to support tax matters across a broader European portfolio, including jurisdictions outside the BENELUX region.
- Fluency in English.
