About This Role 

The Director, Specialized Accountingplays a critical role in supporting NFF’s financial integrity, compliance, and operational effectiveness. This role leads key accounting work streams with a primary focus on grant accounting and compliance, New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) accounting support, and special projects as they arise. As a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), NFF integrates mission and capital across its work. This role partners closely with program, lending, and finance colleagues to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong stewardship of restricted funds, and compliance with federal and funder requirements. This Director role is well-suited for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

NFF has offices in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Oakland, and Los Angeles. This is a US-based remote role, with a strong preference for candidates within commutable distance to one of NFF’s offices. NFF has core business hours where we expect all staff to be available from 9 am to 5 pm local time, and occasional travel (20%) is required.

This is a full-time role with an annual compensation range of $129,400 - $143,800. A compensation offer is based on a candidate’s background and years of relevant experience, with consideration for internal equity. Because of our strong commitment to equity and growth, we do not negotiate compensation offers.
