YOUR IMPACT AT PLATFORM
The Director leads Platform's Premium Accounting function. This role owns premium receivable operations, carrier statement reconciliations, trust accounting compliance, sales tax obligations, and financial controls. This role sets the vision and standards for the function, drives process maturity and automation, and partners with executive leadership, external auditors, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Financial Operations & Reporting
• Present regular reporting, analytics, and strategic recommendations to the executive team as required.
• Establish, monitor, and report on enterprise KPIs for premium receivables, collections, reconciliations, and trust position, translating results into actionable insights for executive leadership.
• Oversee carrier statement reconciliations and lead resolution of complex or historical discrepancies; implement enterprise-level controls to prevent recurrence.
• Direct the accurate and timely execution of sales tax remittances and related regulatory filings.
Team Leadership & Oversight
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Premium Accounting team, building a high-performing and collaborative organization.
• Establish talent strategy, succession planning, workforce capability, and career development pathways for the function.
• Set performance objectives, drive accountability, and foster a culture of ownership, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement & Issue Resolution
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex billing, carrier, and cross-departmental issues, driving resolution and accountability.
• Partner with Sales, Operations, IT, and other Finance leaders to align processes, resolve systemic issues, and drive enterprise-wide improvements.
• Represent Premium Accounting with carriers, auditors, regulators, and other external stakeholders as required.
Process Management, Projects & Optimization
• Lead the strategic direction and execution of process improvement, automation, and system transformation initiatives within Premium Accounting.
• Champion the effective use and optimization of the EPIC system, and evaluate/implement complementary tools (e.g., reconciliation, AP automation, analytics platforms).
• Sponsor cross-functional projects to enhance accuracy, timeliness, scalability, and controls in premium accounting and financial reporting.
• Ensure all key processes are supported by current, manager-level SOPs and a robust control environment.
Compliance & Controls
• Design, implement, and continuously enhance the internal control environment governing Premium Accounting activities.
• Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and company policies, and support the enterprise risk management framework.
• Establish governance forums and reporting to provide transparency to senior leadership on operational performance, control effectiveness, and emerging risks.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (CPA or equivalent designation preferred).
• Minimum of at least five years of progressive experience in premium accounting, accounts receivable, or finance, including supervisory experience.
• Deep expertise in insurance brokerage operations, trust accounting, carrier reconciliations, and provincial/federal tax compliance.
• Proven track record leading finance transformation, system implementations, and process automation initiatives.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with EPIC or comparable insurance/broker ERP systems; experience with BI/analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) is a strong asset.
• Strong strategic thinking, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong judgment in navigating complex regulatory, operational, and financial matters.

The salary range for this position is $130,000 – $160,000.
