GUIDING A NEXT-LEVEL TEAM WITH INTENTION. THE PROJECTS CLOSE. THE NUMBERS ARE RIGHT. THE TEAM KNOWS WHY. At DuraServ, the Director of Project Accounting sets the financial standard that the rest of the organization performs against. DuraServ is looking for a Director, Project Accounting who brings the technical depth to lead a job cost function and the leadership presence to develop a high-performing team — someone who can make project financial data work harder for branch leaders, finance leadership, and the CFO. Director, Project Accounting | Finance & Accounting | Corporate Headquarters | Coppell, TX | On-Site Full-Time | Reports to the CFO | Team Leadership Responsibilities This Role Leads the Function That Tells the Truth About Project Performance. DuraServ is a national leader in commercial dock and door solutions, operating across nine U.S. regions with a project-based business model where job costing accuracy directly affects how leadership understands margin, performance, and profitability. As the company grows — including through acquisitions — the rigor of the project accounting function determines how quickly new businesses get integrated and how clearly financial results are understood across the organization. The Director, Project Accounting leads that function from the front. You'll oversee the Job Cost Accounting team, including Job Cost Managers, and own the processes that govern job costing, revenue recognition, work-in-process reporting, and project financial reporting across all branches. You'll partner with Branch Leadership on profitability and cost management, develop dashboards and metrics that give leadership real visibility into project performance, and work directly with the CFO on controls, process improvements, and strategic finance initiatives. This is a leadership role that requires both technical command of project accounting and the interpersonal credibility to influence how operational leaders think about financial performance. What You'll Do Lead and Develop the Project Accounting Team Lead, coach, and develop the Job Cost Accounting team — setting clear performance expectations, building technical capability, and creating an environment where accountability and continuous improvement are the standard Oversee the day-to-day project accounting function, including job costing, revenue recognition, work-in-process reporting, and project financial reporting — ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across all branches Establish and maintain project accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that support scalable growth and audit-ready financial operations Drive Financial Insight and Branch Partnership Review project financial performance across branches — analyzing variances, cost trends, and profitability drivers, and translating that analysis into recommendations that operational leaders can act on Partner with Branch Leadership to improve project profitability, cost management practices, and financial accountability at the field level Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete estimates — delivering timely, accurate reporting and recommendations that support strategic decision-making at the CFO and executive level Develop and enhance reporting, metrics, and dashboards that provide meaningful visibility into project performance and financial results across the organization Ensure Compliance and Support Strategic Finance Initiatives Ensure all project accounting activities are compliant with GAAP, company policies, and applicable financial reporting requirements Support audits, ERP system implementations, process improvement initiatives, and other strategic finance projects as directed by the CFO Build scalable processes that can absorb growth — including acquisitions — without sacrificing accuracy, speed, or financial control Who You Are You've led accounting teams in complex, project-based environments — and you've built the kind of financial discipline that earns the trust of both the CFO and the field. Technically authoritative — you have a deep working knowledge of project accounting, job costing, revenue recognition, and GAAP in a multi-location, project-based business; you do not need to be brought up to speed on the fundamentals A credible leader and developer of people — you set high standards for your team, coach toward them consistently, and build the capability that allows the function to scale without depending entirely on you Analytically sharp — you move comfortably from granular cost data to executive-level financial narrative; you know what the variances mean, and you know how to explain them to an operational leader who does not speak accounting A strong business partner — you build genuine working relationships with Branch Leadership, Finance colleagues, and executive stakeholders, and you earn influence through the quality of your work and your communication Process-oriented — you build and maintain controls, policies, and procedures that create consistency across a multi-location organization, not just for today's scale but for what the business will look like in three years Advanced in ERP systems and Excel — you use technology to drive efficiency and improve the quality and speed of financial reporting; you are not dependent on manual processes to get accurate data What We're Looking For Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including project accounting, job costing, construction accounting, or a closely related discipline 5+ years of leadership experience managing accounting or finance teams Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools Strong command of GAAP and financial internal controls in a project-based business environment Preferred CPA or other relevant professional certification Experience supporting a multi-location, project-based organization with branch-level financial reporting Background in construction, specialty contracting, field services, manufacturing, or a similar industry where job costing complexity is common Experience supporting ERP implementations, audits, or acquisition integrations from a project accounting perspective What's in It for You DuraServ invests in leaders who bring financial rigor and the ability to build teams that perform at a high level. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience Full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, and 401K with company match Company-provided life insurance, short-term disability Direct reporting relationship to the CFO with high visibility across Finance, Sales, and Branch Leadership Opportunity to build and scale a project accounting function inside a growing, acquisition-driven national organization A stable, on-site corporate environment where financial leadership is recognized and rewarded A Direct Note to the Right Candidate. Project accounting in a multi-region, project-based services company is a demanding discipline. The data has to be right. The team has to be capable. The branch leaders have to trust the numbers. And when the CFO asks a question about project performance, the answer has to be ready. If you have built that kind of financial function before — if you have led a team that operates with precision, earned credibility with operational leaders, and created the reporting infrastructure that gives executive leadership real visibility into what the business is doing — this role was built for that experience. Lead with confidence. At DuraServ, the standard is set by the people who show up ready to influence where the bar is. APPLY NOW — Finance Leaders Who Set the Gold Standard Wanted. Hit Apply. Tell us about a project accounting or job cost function you built or significantly improved, how you partnered with operational leaders to move the financial needle, and what your team looked like before and after your leadership.
