Job Description
ProspectBlue has partnered with a global organization in search of a Director of Accounting to join its corporate finance leadership team. Our client is looking for an experienced accounting leader to oversee the company’s global accounting function, with responsibility for financial close, accounting policy, internal controls, and process standardization across both domestic and international operations.
This is a high-impact leadership role that will play a key part in strengthening the company’s financial infrastructure while helping drive ERP transformation, finance modernization, and global process improvement initiatives. The Director of Accounting will work closely with the Controller, CFO, and other senior leaders to support enterprise-wide financial strategy, operational excellence, and sound decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the global general ledger function and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial results across all domestic and international entities
- Oversee balance sheet governance, including reconciliation standards and consistent accounting practices across subsidiaries and regions
- Own and maintain the company’s global accounting policy framework, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and providing guidance on technical accounting matters
- Partner with the Financial Reporting team to support public company reporting requirements and related disclosures
- Strengthen the company’s internal control environment, including SOX compliance and internal audit readiness
- Serve as a senior leader in the company’s ERP transformation, helping design scalable accounting processes, chart of accounts structures, and financial systems architecture
- Drive global process standardization and identify opportunities to centralize and streamline accounting activities across geographies
- Provide oversight of key accounting technologies and financial platforms, including ERP systems and reconciliation tools such as BlackLine
- Lead, mentor, and develop a global accounting team, building leadership capability and supporting the long-term finance talent pipeline
- Partner cross-functionally with the Controller, CFO, IT, Sales, and other business leaders on strategic initiatives and enterprise decision-making
Qualifications
Our client is looking for a strong accounting leader with a blend of technical expertise, global experience, and proven success leading teams through change and transformation. Qualified candidates will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- CPA or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred
- 15+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including significant responsibility within corporate accounting and/or controllership functions
- Experience leading global accounting operations, including consolidations and enterprise-wide close processes
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance, ideally within a publicly traded company environment
- Experience managing multi-country accounting teams and complex external audit relationships
- Proven success leading ERP implementations, systems modernization, or finance transformation initiatives
- Strong financial systems and process improvement experience, including ERP platforms and tools such as BlackLine
- Experience working across multiple international entities, currencies, and regulatory environments
- Strong communication, executive presence, strategic thinking, and change leadership skills
