Director of Accounting

Position SummaryThe Director of Accounting will be responsible for managing the college’s accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President/Controller, this position will oversee the accounting staff and be responsible for accounts payable, fixed assets, travel & expense management, and compliance with regulatory reporting, including IRS Form 990, NCAA financial reports, and IPEDS submissions. The Director of Accounting will serve as a strategic leader within our financial operations, ensuring the integrity of Morehouse College’s fiscal records while championing a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience with Banner ERP , advanced Excel skills, and proficiency in SQL .Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA / MBA preferred or working towards a CPA . 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory managerial role (preferably in higher education or nonprofit sectors) and a proven track record of building and developing accounting teams.
