What the Role Entails

The Accounting Director will report to CAO and will oversee the accounting operations for the Company’s funds, management entities, and investment properties. This person will lead the close process, ensure accurate fund and asset-level reporting, maintain a strong control environment, and partner with internal and external stakeholders to support the continued growth of the platform. 

What You Will Do

· Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across fund entities, management companies, and investment property structures, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. 

· Oversee the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. 

· Participate in the quarterly NAV and financial statement process, reviewing work prepared by our third-party fund administrator.

· Partner with third-party administrators, property managers, auditors, tax advisors, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality financial information. 

· Direct the accounting for capital activity, including contributions, distributions, allocations, management fees, expenses, and inter-company transactions across multiple entity structures. 

· Review property accounting and asset-level financial results to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with fund objectives and reporting standards. 

· Determining the treatment of transactions under US GAAP and coordinating relevant disclosures.

· Preparing / reviewing portfolio analysis used in making carried interest decisions and working with other teams to ensure the timely recording of carried interest transactions.

· Ensure accurate asset-level financial reporting to management, lenders and investors, as well as monitor REIT compliance.

· Manage, monitor and report on debt facilities, ensuring funds are in compliance with debt obligations.

· Oversee audit support, compliance reporting, and other regulatory or lender reporting requirements as needed. 

· Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and process documentation to support a disciplined and well-governed control environment. 

· Identify and implement process improvements across close, reporting, and systems workflows, including ERP and general ledger optimization. 

· Remain flexible and proactive in taking on new responsibilities, special projects, and strategic initiatives as the organization grows and evolves. 

· Manage and mentor accounting staff, while helping to build scalable processes, clear responsibilities, and a high-performance team environment. 

Requirements

 What You Bring to the Role

· A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 

· A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility in public accounting, corporate accounting, REITs, real estate, private equity funds, or a related industry. 

· Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience applying accounting guidance in complex, multi-entity environments. 

· Demonstrated experience with internal controls, process design, and organizational control environments. 

· Strong business acumen with the ability to solve problems using technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and operational awareness. 

· Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

· Proven ability to lead teams, collaborate cross-functionally, and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. 

Technical Skills

· Proficiency in Yardi or another major ERP/GL system. 

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word. 

· Experience with fund reporting, property accounting systems, and financial consolidation tools preferred.
