About the Role

The Director of Accounting is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role provides strategic leadership for the accounting function and partners closely with executive leadership to deliver insights that support business performance and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Controls

· Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

· Establish, maintain, and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and en-sure financial integrity.

Accounting Operations

· Lead all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and re-ceivable, fixed assets, and revenue recognition.

· Ensure consistency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting processes and systems.

Month-End Close

· Drive a timely and efficient month-end close process.

· Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve accuracy, and reduce close time-lines.

Compliance & Audit

· Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory accounting and reporting re-quirements.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and manage all audit activities.

Budgeting & Forecasting

· Support the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.

· Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide clear explanations and insights to leader-ship.

Tax & Cash Flow Management

· Oversee corporate tax compliance and coordinate with external tax advisors.

· Monitor cash flow, assist with banking relationships, and investment activity, providing recommendations to leadership as needed.

Strategic Leadership

· Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.

· Collaborate with the FP&A team on forward-looking financial analysis and modeling to support strategic planning and executive decision-making.

People Leadership

· Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a high-performance and ac-countability-driven culture.

· Build scalable team structures and processes aligned with company growth.

Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting required.

· CPA, CMA, and/or MBA strongly preferred.

Experience

· 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.

· Several years of experience in an accounting leadership or management role.

· Experience with percent of completion (POC) method of accounting required.

· Experience working with or within private equity (PE)-backed organizations strongly preferred.

· Experience recording (purchase accounting) and integrating acquisitions strongly pre-ferred.

· Experience with international accounting (i.e., Mexico), consolidation and reporting pre-ferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

· Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar).

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.

· Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

· Ability to manage remote staff.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Proven ability to partner effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.

· May require occasional travel (i.e., less than 10%)
