About the Role
Total Wine & More is seeking Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to join our Finance team in our Bethesda, MD office. You will serve as the strategic finance partner for Store Operations, driving financial performance, operational excellence, and informed decision-making across all retail operations. This role is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and providing actionable insights through financial modeling and performance analysis. It provides leadership with insights to guide resource allocation, support strategic initiatives, and inform business decisions. This role is accountable for ensuring alignment with business objectives and providing strategic guidance to leadership. It acts as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, delivering insights and recommendations that influence business decisions, enable growth, and enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in retail finance, strong leadership skills, and a track record of driving results through data-driven decision-making. This role reports to the VP, FP&A Business Planning.
You will
- Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning processes for Store Operations and HR, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives
- Partner with Store Operations leadership and cross-functional teams to provide financial guidance and support strategic decision-making
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights to support executive decision-making and improve profitability
- Optimize financial models, reporting tools, and FP&A processes to improve efficiency and decision support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Stores and other business functions, to provide financial guidance, manage operating expenses, and support key strategic initiatives.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly financial reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior leadership.
- Lead cross-functional financial analyses related to store initiatives, capital investments, and productivity improvements.
- Oversee development and maintenance of reporting packages and dashboards.
You will come with
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience in FP&A, operational finance, or a similar area preferred
- Strong financial acumen and expertise in FP&A principles, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
- Deep knowledge of the retail industry, including key drivers of profitability, merchandising metrics, and inventory management.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into strategic insights.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, including experience mentoring analysts and driving cross-functional financial initiatives.
