Role Overview
Our Client is seeking an entrepreneurial and execution-focused Director, Accounts Payable to lead our AP team. As a high-growth, private-equity-backed healthcare organization, we are at a pivotal stage of scaling our processes, procedures and teams to support incoming acquisitions over the next ~2 years.
The Role
We are scaling rapidly, and our Accounts Payable function is the engine that keeps our growth sustainable. As our Director of AP, you will oversee the full cycle of payables while leading the complex task of integrating new acquisitions into our financial ecosystem. You will be responsible for creating standardized, scalable processes that allow us to add new facilities or clinics to our network without missing a beat. In our fast-paced healthcare environment, precision, speed, and the ability to manage rapid organizational change are not just desired—they are required.
Key Responsibilities
- M&A Integration: Lead the integration of newly acquired entities. You will be responsible for migrating legacy vendor data, consolidating disparate payment processes, and ensuring new teams are trained on our centralized financial standards.
- Process Scalability: Design and implement AP workflows to support our existing business that can also be rapidly deployed to new acquisitions. Your goal is to move from manual, decentralized tasks to a fully automated, scalable model.
- Operational Agility: Maintain stability in a high-volume environment. You will optimize our internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy even as our transaction volume grows exponentially.
- Regulatory Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of financial integrity. You will manage complex audits and ensure all vendor payments and expense reporting adhere to stringent healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Vendor & Supply Chain Strategy: Manage high-stakes vendor relationships. You will negotiate terms for an expanding portfolio and resolve integration-related bottlenecks to ensure zero disruption to supply chains.
- Multi-entity Experience: You’ve managed the entire AP lifecycle for a company with 100+ locations and can implement best practices, policies and procedures and workflows to support a high volume of invoices and payments.
- M&A Understanding: You have direct experience integrating accounts payable operations during a merger or acquisition and know how to clean up legacy data and integrate acquired businesses quickly
- Healthcare Acumen: You understand the unique pressures of the healthcare sector—from high-volume vendor logistics to the need for total audit transparency and controls.
- Change Management: You are a change agent who can quickly observe, inquire and evaluate existing processes and to identify gaps, and develop a plan to implement best practices.
- System Expert: You have deep experience with large-scale ERPs and know how to configure them for high-growth environments. You collaborate with Accounting to optimize workflows and system integrations.
- Resilience: You thrive when the pace is fast. You remain focused and don’t get flustered by rapid changes in organizational structure; you treat them as opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Leadership and vision: You have experience leading a team, providing clarity, guidance, direction and development opportunities. You can effectively delegate tasks, provide oversight and feedback and positively influence outcomes.
- 10+ years in finance with at least 5 years of leadership experience in a high-growth, multi-site or acquisitive environment.
- Proven track record of leading a full-cycle ERP implementation or a multi-entity system consolidation.
