Position Summary: The Director of Accounting leads general ledger integrity and enterprise accounting operations, including consolidated reporting, close governance, internal controls, compliance, and process improvement. This role delivers timely, decision-ready financials to leadership and external stakeholders while partnering closely with the VP Corporate Controller, Treasury, and FP&A.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Own monthly, quarterly, and annual entity and consolidated financial statements, ensuring GAAP compliance and audit readiness. Set reporting standards and cadence to deliver timely, accurate results to leadership and external stakeholders. Direct consolidations, intercompany accounting, and eliminations across entities with clear governance and accountability.
Month-End and Year-End Close:
Lead the month-end close, enforcing deadlines, quality standards, and reconciliations. Own year-end close execution, including coordination with external auditors and tax advisors.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
Design, maintain, and strengthen internal controls over processes, systems, and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with accounting policies, financial regulations, and internal governance requirements.
Team Leadership:
Build and lead a high-performing accounting team; set expectations, develop leaders, and drive accountability. Define team timetables and KPIs; lead performance management, development, succession planning, and mentorship.
Audit & Tax:
Lead audit readiness, including schedules, support, and documentation for financial and tax audits. Manage tax advisor and regulator relationships to ensure timely filings, compliance, and risk mitigation.
Budgeting & Forecasting Support:
Partner with the VP Corporate Controller, FP&A, and Operations on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Systems & Process Improvement:
Modernize accounting systems and processes to improve efficiency, controls, and scalability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s preferred.
CPA strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5+ years leading teams and complex close/reporting environments. Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
Experience in a multi-entity and/or international environment preferred. Significant ERP systems experience.
Executive-level communication and influence skills to drive alignment across Finance and business leaders.
