Credit Analyst I - Capital City Bank - More than your bank, your banker.

Hours Mon- Fri 40 Hours

General Summary

Conducts credit investigations and analyzes credit information pertaining to loan opportunities. Provides assistance to Commercial Loan Officers and Credit Analyst Manager in making credit decisions through preparation of financial spreadsheets and written analyses focusing on the borrower’s historical and projected ability to service existing and any new debt.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Spreads financial statements of commercial clients using Abrigo software and prepares concisely written narrative, focusing on areas of profitability, liquidity, cash flow, industry stabilization and overall capacity to service debt.

Works jointly with Commercial Loan Officers in the preparation of loan packages for the purpose of properly decisioning loan requests. The Credit Analyst’s primary focus will be to document the borrower’s historical and projected capacity to repay and to make a recommendation as to if and how the Bank should proceed with the request.

Performs annual financial reviews of existing large credit exposures to the Bank to ensure those relationships are properly risk rated and that the loan is in compliance with any covenants that may have been established.

Performs annual reviews of significant ACH relationships to ensure approval levels are appropriate and that the risk profile continues to be acceptable.

Periodically monitors significant criticized and classified loans as well as other performing loans having higher risk profiles to ensure the relationships are properly risk rated.

Associates will consistently follow policies and procedures as established by Capital City Bank, Capital City Wealth, and Capital City Home Loans, with department managers setting the standard.

Associated Duties

Provides additional support to Credit Analyst Manager and departmental colleagues.

Completes all assigned/required Bank training within established timelines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Required
The following KSAs are usually acquired through college education with specialized business training course(s) and/or two to four years related experience:

  1. Ability to read, analyze and interpret personal and corporate financial documents including balance sheet, income statement and tax returns.
  2. Ability to effectively present information to Credit Analyst Manager and to communicate with Commercial Loan Officers.
  3. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to analyze and interpret financial statements of commercial clients to provide a more comprehensive picture of the company’s financial stability and their ability to repay debt.
  4. Ability to assist Commercial Loan Officers in making sound credit decisions to minimize the bank’s potential loss.
  5. Credit analysis experience preferred.
  6. Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  7. Technical competence with the use of Excel and Microsoft Word.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, or Accounting from an accredited college required. Accounting experience preferred. Underwriting or relevant experience preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement.
