Otter Products is hiring for a Cost Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting team in Fort Collins, CO. This role can work a hybrid schedule.
The Cost Accounting Specialist provides analytical and administrative support to the Accounting function, with a primary focus on cost accounting processes and reporting. This role assists in maintaining cost data, analyzing manufacturing and operational costs, supporting month-end close activities, and preparing financial information used for business decision-making. The Cost Accounting Support Specialist works closely with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate cost reporting and support organizational financial objectives.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and update cost standards, product costs, and related accounting records within company systems.
- Assist with the analysis of material, labor, overhead, and other cost elements to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support ongoing maintenance of company MSRP, wholesale price lists, and customer-specific pricing structures.
- Assist with inventory costing activities, product cost updates, and cost-related data validations.
- Prepare and post journal entries and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Generate, compile, and analyze cost accounting reports and financial data to support management decision-making.
- Research and resolve cost-related discrepancies and assist with corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance teams to gather and validate cost information.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis activities by providing accurate cost data and reporting.
- Complete ad hoc analyses, reporting requests, and special projects as assigned.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to cost accounting processes, reporting, and system functionality.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and a commitment to supporting company objectives while providing excellent internal customer service.
- Support and maintain a positive safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures and actively contributing to a safe working environment.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of one year of accounting, finance, or cost accounting support experience required.
- Basic understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and financial reporting preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems preferred.
