As a full-time Cost Accounting Manager in the Cost Accounting Department at Aalberts, you will manage the day-to-day accounting operations for our manufacturing facilities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely close in compliance with US GAAP and company policies. This role partners with plant leadership to drive operational performance through cost accounting, inventory control, budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement.

your challenge
- Lead cost accounting for the plants (standard costing and variances), including analysis of material, labor, and overhead absorption; partner with Operations to identify drivers and corrective actions.
- Own the monthly close for the manufacturing sites, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and timely submission of results to corporate consolidation in accordance with the close calendar.
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with company policies, US GAAP, and applicable statutory requirements.
- Oversee inventory accounting and controls, including cycle counts/physical inventories, inventory reconciliations, reserve analysis, and monitoring of scrap/obsolescence.
- Prepare, analyze, and communicate monthly financial results (P&L and key metrics), including variance explanations and support for plant performance reviews.
- Serve as the primary site contact for internal and external audits; prepare schedules, respond to requests, and drive timely issue resolution.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting and support for compliance activities (e.g., sales/use, property, payroll-related reporting, and other regulatory requirements) in partnership with corporate tax/payroll.
- Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems (including ERP enhancements), standard work, and documentation; manage special projects as assigned.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and HR to support decision-making and strengthen financial discipline across the facility.

requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing/plant accounting required.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, financial close/reporting, cost accounting, and inventory accounting required.
- Experience with budgeting/forecasting and variance analysis in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- ERP experience required; JD Edwards experience preferred.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills equal to English language proficiency of at least B1 level where clear communication and basic problem-solving skills are essential.
- Ability to partner effectively with plant leadership and corporate functions.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and maintain effective working relationships.
