Cost Accounting Assistant

Location: Bowling Green, OH (Sales & Administrative Office)
Reports to: Costing Manager

Scope of Position:

The Cost Accounting Assistant will support the Costing Manager by compiling, analyzing, and maintaining accurate costing records. This role is responsible for summarizing production costs and gross margins for monthly reports submitted to both the AWV management team and the corporate accounting department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain organized and accurate costing records with strong attention to detail.

• Use MS Excel for cost tracking, data validation, and report preparation.

• Assist in preparing monthly cost accounting analyses, including overhead allocations and variance tracking.

• Generate and analyze financial and operational reports.

• Collaborate with team members to enhance costing processes and workflows.

• Input and transfer data across spreadsheets, ERP systems, and reports.

• Review and interpret financial documents such as purchase orders.

Required Qualifications:

• General understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.

• Proficiency in MS Excel (formulas, data management, analysis of large datasets).

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Comfortable learning and navigating new technology platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment (overhead allocation, production costing, inventory valuation).

• Familiarity with ERP systems, especially Friedman Frontier and IBM AS/400 (iSeries).

• Experience with Crystal Reports for designing or modifying financial/operational reports.

• Systems: Internal ERP (training provided), AS/400 (training available; prior familiarity a plus).
