Position Summary
The Cost Accountant (Forecast & Reporting Focus) supports the accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of Crimson Wine Group’s production and farming operations. This role focuses on budgeting and forecasting activities, while also supporting accurate inventory reporting, inventory reconciliations, cost allocations, and harvest costing. The Cost Accountant helps ensure inventory and production costs are recorded accurately and in compliance with Company policy, GAAP, SEC, and other regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Supports the Production and Farming budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Prepares and communicates budget-to-actual analysis and variance explanations.
- Performs periodic inventory reconciliations between physical counts and system records for bulk wine inventory across all storage locations.
- Reconciles inventory subledgers to the general ledger monthly.
- Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations related to inventory, overhead, vineyard costs, and other production-related accounts.
- Prepares bill of materials (BOM) costing for finished goods, including bulk wine, dry goods, and allocated overhead.
- Prepares management reports related to bulk wine inventory, cost per gallon, harvest costs, overhead rates, and other supply chain metrics.
- Assists with maintaining accurate item setup and costing information in the ERP system and related third-party systems.
- Performs harvest cost closeout activities, including assigning estate fruit, purchased fruit, and crush overhead costs to bulk wine.
- Supports the administration of bulk wine–related contracts, including purchased grapes, bulk wine, and custom winemaking agreements, and assists with system setup as needed.
- Conducts inventory cycle counts at various locations to support inventory accuracy and control.
- Responds to internal inquiries related to inventory levels, transactions, item setup, and costing.
- Provides support for inventory requests related to quarterly reviews, internal controls, and year-end audits.
- Assists with special projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned.
- Performs other accounting duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in related field or equivalent.
- Years of Experience: 3-5 years of Accounting/Finance experience +/or training, with Cost Accounting and winery experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, advanced Excel required.
- Experience with Business Central; Solver; Vintrace; Power Bi desired.
- Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.

The projected (base) pay range for this position is $82,000 to $95,000 per year in addition to annual bonus.
The above range/rate is the projected compensation for this position, however the actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as (but not limited to) candidate qualifications, related experience and education, candidate work location and market data. Crimson Wine Group reserves the right to modify the pay range/rate at any time in the future.
