Location: Fully remote. Candidates in Eastern or Central Time Zones are strongly preferred (especially Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey, Philadelphia metro, or New York metro) to align with our operational footprint.
We are a fast-growing, mission-driven behavioral health organization dedicated to providing high-quality, trauma-informed care exclusively to children and adolescents. For over three decades, we have specialized in serving youth who have experienced significant trauma, emotional and behavioral challenges, and complex mental health needs. Our organization delivers a full continuum of care, including psychiatric residential treatment programs, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), after-school services, and family-focused support designed to promote long-term healing, skill development, and successful reintegration.
With centers across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, and planned expansion into additional markets, we operate with a strong emphasis on clinical excellence, individualized treatment plans, and measurable outcomes. Over the past 12 months alone, we have achieved extraordinary 354% revenue growth while maintaining our commitment to quality care. We are now entering a significant new chapter of professionalization and strategic expansion — including new program launches (such as a dedicated girls’ residential center), potential acquisitions, and enhanced operational infrastructure. This is an exciting time for finance professionals who want to make a meaningful impact at a values-driven organization that is scaling rapidly while staying true to its core mission of transforming young lives.
We are seeking a seasoned, high-caliber Controller with clear potential to grow into a CFO role. This remote leadership position will play a critical part in building a professional, scalable financial foundation to support our continued aggressive growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on strategic thinker with deep healthcare finance expertise who thrives in a dynamic, mission-oriented environment and is ready to take ownership of financial operations at an organization experiencing explosive expansion.
Responsibilities
- Lead all core financial operations, including monthly closes, consolidated financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and detailed variance analysis across multiple sites and programs.
- Manage healthcare-specific cost reporting, revenue cycle optimization, reimbursement management, and payer contract analysis.
- Provide strategic financial insights to executive leadership and operational teams to drive program profitability, cost management, and informed decision-making.
- Oversee and develop a small finance team (currently 1.5–2 members) while remaining actively hands-on with accounting and reporting.
- Support due diligence, financial modeling, and integration efforts for acquisitions and new center openings.
- Ensure strong internal controls, compliance with behavioral health regulations, and readiness for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Build scalable processes, systems, and KPIs to professionalize financial operations as the organization continues to grow.
- Prepare clear, executive-level financial presentations for leadership and board meetings.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in healthcare finance, with the most recent years spent as a Controller (or equivalent senior role) in a provider setting — behavioral health, residential treatment, psychiatric services, nursing home/long-term care, or similar multi-site healthcare organizations strongly preferred.
- Significant hands-on experience with healthcare budgeting, cost reports, revenue cycle, and reimbursement models.
- Demonstrated success managing financial operations in a multi-location or multi-state environment with rapid growth.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a small team while staying actively involved in day-to-day execution.
- Strong technical skills, including advanced Excel and ERP/accounting systems (experience optimizing or implementing systems is highly valued).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
- Sharp, proactive, and assertive “accountant-type” personality — detail-oriented yet strategic, with a strong desire to advance and drive organizational impact.

- Substantial career growth opportunity — this role is structured for a high-potential Controller to evolve into the CFO position as the organization scales.
