Compensation: $140,000–$185,000 annually, depending on experience
Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days onsite / 1 day remote
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire (Permanent part-time considered for exceptional candidates)
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with two profitable, rapidly growing, private equity-backed companies in the beauty care, manufacturing, and distribution industries to identify an experienced Controller / VP of Finance.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who wants to take ownership of the accounting and finance function, partner directly with executive leadership, and help shape the next phase of organizational growth.
Reporting directly to the CEO/CFO, this individual will oversee all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, cash management, and compliance activities across both businesses.
The organization has recently made significant investments in improving financial processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls. The incoming finance leader will build upon that foundation, drive operational efficiencies, and introduce additional automation and process improvements.
We are seeking someone who can operate strategically while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Leadership
- Oversee all accounting and finance operations across two commonly controlled businesses.
- Lead the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Manage general ledger activities, reconciliations, and intercompany accounting.
- Supervise and mentor a team of three accounting professionals responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and related functions.
- Maintain financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and strong internal controls.
- Coordinate external audits, tax preparation, and financial compliance activities.
Financial Planning, Reporting & Cash Management
- Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports and analysis to executive leadership.
- Manage annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Oversee treasury operations, banking relationships, cash flow, and working capital.
- Prepare weekly cash management and banking reports.
- Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and cash flow.
- Provide actionable financial insights to support executive decision-making.
Process Improvement & Systems Optimization
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and automate financial processes.
- Enhance reporting capabilities and financial controls.
- Drive additional automation and process improvements within QuickBooks.
- Learn and leverage SYSPRO ERP for inventory management and manufacturing-related financial operations.
- Develop scalable accounting procedures and reporting processes to support continued business growth.
Strategic Partnership & Team Leadership
- Serve as a trusted financial partner to the CEO/CFO and senior leadership.
- Take full ownership of the accounting and finance department.
- Lead, develop, and support accounting team members.
- Partner with operational leadership to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
- Support strategic initiatives and continuous improvement across both organizations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Significant progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience in a Controller, VP of Finance, Finance Director, or comparable senior financial leadership position.
- Strong hands-on experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and financial controls.
- Experience overseeing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, treasury, and working capital management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a small accounting team while remaining actively involved in daily financial operations.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Experience with QuickBooks and financial process optimization.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong financial analytical capabilities.
- Ability to work onsite in Oldsmar, FL, four days per week.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, or inventory-intensive businesses.
- Experience working with private equity-backed or privately held organizations.
- Familiarity with SYSPRO or comparable manufacturing and inventory ERP systems.
- Experience managing financial operations across multiple entities, including intercompany accounting.
- Demonstrated success implementing accounting automation, improving financial reporting, or strengthening internal controls.
- CPA designation or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience supporting high-growth organizations or businesses undergoing financial transformation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $140,000–$180,000, with a target range of $150,000–$170,000.
- Exceptional Candidates: Compensation up to $185,000 may be considered based on experience and organizational fit.
- Equity: Potential equity participation for highly qualified candidates.
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid schedule with four days onsite and one remote day.
- Employment Flexibility: Permanent part-time arrangements may be considered for the right individual.
- Leadership Exposure: Direct partnership with the CEO/CFO and significant influence over financial operations and business growth.
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
The ideal candidate is a seasoned, hands-on financial leader who enjoys both the strategic and operational sides of accounting and finance.
You are comfortable preparing financial statements, reviewing reconciliations, managing cash flow, and leading a team, but you also understand how to translate financial data into meaningful business decisions.
You thrive in growing organizations, enjoy improving processes, embrace technology, and take pride in building efficient, accurate, and scalable financial operations.
If you're looking for an opportunity to take true ownership of a finance department, work directly with executive leadership, and make a measurable impact on two growing businesses, we encourage you to apply.
