Controller (Reports to President)

Location: Bergen County, NJ, salary open depends on level of experience

A dynamic, multi-location public accounting firm in the Tri-State area is seeking a Controller who will report to the President. This individual will take over the responsibilities of a long-tenured team member and manage all aspects of firm accounting operations, including AP/AR, bill payments, partnership returns, and accounting systems.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in public accounting or a professional services environment
• Strong background in full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
• Experience with partnership tax returns and general ledger systems
• Hands-on approach with excellent organizational and communication skills
• Calm and composed demeanor under pressure

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting functions, including payables, receivables, and cash management
• Process payments, manage check runs, and ensure financial accuracy
• Handle partnership tax returns and internal firm reporting
• Install and maintain accounting and reporting software
• Work closely with the President and assist partners and team members as needed
• Supervise staff
