The Controller is a hands-on leader responsible for the integrity of the company’s financial reporting and core operational accounting processes. This role oversees financial statement preparation and manages day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, oversight of outsourced payroll coordination, and all financial analysis. Reporting directly to the COO, the Controller partners with operations to support sound financial controls, accurate reporting, and informed decision-making.
This position is ideal for a practical, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working closely with the business in a stable, long-established organization.
The Company is open to either Full Time or Part Time, depending on the experience level of the candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Oversee preparation of timely and accurate financial statements
- Manage the monthly and annual close process, ensuring adherence to GAAP
- Prepare financial reports and analyses for leadership, including variance analysis and trend reporting
- Coordinate year-end audit activities and serve as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and bankers
- Active participant in implementation of Biz Central 365
- Oversee all core accounting functions, including:
- Accounts payable and vendor management
- Accounts receivable, billing, and collections
- Payroll processing coordination (employees and contract labor)
- Maintain general ledger accuracy, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Ensure proper accounting for revenue recognition and expenses
- Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Manage inventory accounting, including valuation, reserves, and physical inventory counts
- Oversee cost accounting processes for manufacturing and distribution operations
- Partner with operations to ensure accurate product costing and margin reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation
- Hands-on experience with AP, AR, payroll, inventory, and general ledger accounting
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
