Key Responsibilities
- Financial Leadership
- Lead and develop the accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
- Serve as the senior financial partner to the President and leadership team
- Translate financial and operational data into actionable insights that support decision-making
- Provide financial perspective on operational performance, profitability, and growth opportunities
- Accounting & Financial Operations
- Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and internal reporting
- Maintain strong accounting controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial forecasting
- Oversee inventory accounting, cost tracking, and margin reporting related to fuel and lubricant distribution
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial partners
- Financial Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Strengthen financial reporting capabilities across the organization
- Develop clear financial dashboards and reporting that support operational leaders
- Partner with leadership to analyze business performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Build financial models and scenario analysis to support capital investments and strategic initiatives
- Improve visibility into profitability by customer, product, and market
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Strengthen financial processes, controls, and reporting system
- Ensure accurate data flow between operational systems and financial reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, reporting, and operational visibility
- Leverage ERP and analytics tools to improve decision-making across the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA strongly preferred
- 7–12+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Experience managing and developing accounting or finance teams
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and operational accounting
- Experience supporting executive leadership with financial analysis and business decision support
- Experience in distribution, energy, logistics, or industrial services businesses preferred
Financial Systems & Data Tools
- Experience working within ERP systems; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central strongly preferred
- Experience building dashboards and financial reporting using tools such as Microsoft Power BI or similar analytics platforms
- Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
- Ability to translate operational and financial data into insights that support leadership decision-making
